Harrisonburg, Virginia Engagement Session | Gabe + Ellen

We’ve been looking forward to Gabe and Ellen’s Harrisonburg, Virginia engagement session since last summer, so we were bummed when we saw rain in the forecast on the day of their shoot. But somehow in the midst of the rainiest spring we can remember, the clouds parted, the rain held off, and the sun even peeked it’s sweet face out at us! What a gift!

Harrisonburg is home for these two, and it was important to them that their portraits capture all of their favorite spots. We wandered through downtown, captured the skyline, stopped in the park where they feed the ducks, swung by Kline’s for a quick ice cream cone, and finished up at the couple’s cute little house. It was a true hometown tour and I love that Gabe and Ellen will have these portraits to share when they want to show future generations where they started out.

I know I’ve said this before, but engagement sessions are a non-negotiable part of the experience for us and our couples. (On top of the fact that we love them!!) A lot of our couples tell us ahead of time that they’re nervous about portraits or they don’t know what to do or how to act. A lot of our couples hire us through an email, so the e-session is the first time we get to watch them interact with each other. We cherish this uninterrupted, quality time with our couples and the time we got to spend with Ellen and Gabe was no different! Watching the sweet way they treated each other gave us an up-close and personal look into their relationship before they become husband and wife. It was a treat and will make all the difference in the world on the day of their wedding!
