When we meet couples or talk to them on the phone for the first time we tell them this is not just a job… and we mean it. It is our hearts desire to invest ourselves in the lives of our sweet couples… to build relationships because we care for them. We want to walk into the bridal suite on the biggest day of their lives as friends, not strangers. We let them know that we are here for them not just as photographers, but as resources, timeline proofreaders, cheerleaders, and sounding boards. We are in it for the long haul and we love to show up however we can before, during, and after the big day. Tony and Lydia took our invitation to be friends to heart and we had the best time getting to know them during this season. Lydia sent me an email the week before her wedding to invite us to their rehearsal dinner- not as photographers, but as guests. We were thrilled not only because we got to hang out with these guys and get to know their friends and families before the wedding, but because their rehearsal dinner was going to be a CONTRA DANCE! If you’ve ever been contra dancing you get my need for capital letters. If you haven’t, go to You Tube and enjoy the show 🙂 (And then let’s plan a group trip to Greenwood for a Contra Dancing lesson!) We had the best time whirling around in Lydia and Tony’s element. We highly recommend a contra dancing rehearsal dinner!
We got to Lydia’s childhood home in Staunton, Virginia the morning of the wedding and were met with Lydia’s beautifully infectious laugh. How cool is it to think about Lydia putting on her beautiful white dress and her mom’s vintage veil in the same room where she dreamed about her wedding day as a little girl. Lydia carried an armful of flowers from the yard and she met the love of her life in the backyard where she grew up. Perfect. The wind blew us around the farm and the sun played peek-a-boo all day, but Lydia and Tony had the time of their lives becoming husband and wife. We wandered through Lydia’s favorite fields and watched the horses run as the sun set.
Tony + Lydia, welcome to this wild and crazy adventure called marriage! Thank you for welcoming us so warmly into your lives! We loved celebrating your wedding with you and can’t wait to be “real friends” now and have game nights and eat Split Banana ice cream! Those are our favorite things to do with you! 🙂 Enjoy some of our favorites from your sweet day!
cheers!
