Frankie and McKenzie’s farm wedding in the rolling hills outside of Louisville, Kentucky could not have been more perfect. Aaron met Frankie in eighth grade and the two of them have been friends ever since. For years the two of them played sports and made music together until college took Frankie to the mountains of North Carolina and kept Aaron in the Valley (where he met and married me).
After Aaron asked me to marry him, the first thing we did was ask 10 of our closest friends to stand up with us as we promised forever to each other. Frankie was one of those friends. A few weeks before our wedding Frankie called to ask Aaron if he could have a ‘plus one’ for the wedding. (Side note: We invited 290 people to a venue that could only fit 200, so we were extra stingy with those plus ones… oops!) But Frankie was persistent, saying that this girl was special and they were “very serious” even after only a few months. We met McKenzie amidst the hustle and bustle of setting up for a wedding but even in the craziness we could see that Frankie was right- she was special. This one-of-a-kind girl had a beautiful effect on this friend of ours. Fast forward a year and it was Frankie’s turn to get down on one knee and ask his closest friends to stand up with him as he married the love of his life.
If you look closely you may see a familiar face in some of the photos- because not only did we capture their day, but Aaron stood up as one of Frankie’s groomsmen too! It was the most beautiful day, the most radiant bride, the sweetest moments, the most God-honoring ceremony, and the happiest couple. McKenzie’s dad walked her down the aisle as the Doxology was sung and then performed the ceremony with some of the most thoughtful words I’ve ever heard. The property radiated with joy from beginning to end and two hundred of the couple’s nearest and dearest danced the night away under the stars. The perfect beginning to a beautiful new life together.
Frankie and McKenzie, we are grateful to be witnesses to your love and the life you now get to live together in faithfulness to the Father. Thank you for sharing your day with us- these moments are magical and we cannot wait to share the rest with you soon! For now, enjoy some of our favorites! We are so excited for your marriage and all the ways the Lord is going to use you to expand his Kingdom!
cheers!
