Duxbury, Massachusetts: Cape Cod Wedding | Emily + Jason

I’ve known Emily since we moved in together our senior year at James Madison University (Go Dukes!) and we have some stories to tell! Like the time we snuck a baby opossum into the neighbor boys’ house wrapped like a Christmas gift. Or the month after we graduated (which we lovingly refer to as the best May ever) where we did nothing but puzzles and watch Say Yes To The Dress re-runs on TLC like little old ladies before entering the real world. And the time we caught our other roommate in the front porch hammock with a strange new boy (who she’ll marry next spring!). And of course we have endless stories of “that one roommate”.

Em stood up with me on my own wedding day and it has been a gift to watch our friendship grow and change as we’ve become adults. I was honored when Emily asked me to be a bridesmaid AND asked us to photograph their day. A little overwhelmed, but excited!

We got to Duxbury, Massachusetts (also known as “Deluxe-bury”- my favorite place on Earth) on Wednesday of wedding week and spent the rest of the week finalizing last minute details, sitting on the porch, and loving on our bride-friend. After a morning downpour, bright sunshine reflected off the bay and white puffy clouds floated in the sky to create the perfect New England day for Emily and Jason’s day. We got ready in the sweet summer cottage that Emily grew up visiting (a real life dream come true). The ceremony over looked a rose garden honoring Em’s mom and the family boat house- not to mention the perfect bay view- and the reception took place under a wood-pole sailcloth tent on the same property. Dinner included New England clam chowder and lobster- a real treat for their guests! The celebration continued into the night- the music and laughter bouncing off the mud flats as the lights lit the tent like a vision out of a dream. Portraits on the beach, a quick ride on the neighborhood tree swing, and so much joy made the day one to remember!

Emily + Jason, you guys know we love you two! We are excited for you to step into this new season- marriage is an adventure! We are thankful for your friendship and for all the roles we were able to play in your beautiful day! Enjoy a few of our favorites!
